Minolta MD zoom lens

Thinking of buying a 70/80-200mm lens for the minolta x-300s of my father. The minolta ones are fine, or should I go for the other brands, like tokina, vivitar, sigma, etc?

Yes, I was asking more in the terms of the old "what lens is better, minolta or tokina in 70-200?" as a exemple.

THe minolta zooms are best. The 35-70 3.5 MD and the 70/80 - 200/210 4.0 4.5 MD if I remember those right, they are the best.

I have the 35-70 and used to use it a lot professionally.

I still prefer primes though.

Yes, but I need a good zoom in that focal lenghts. I have a pental 300mm prime, m42 (much heavy...) and for 50mm, a 1.4 revenuon also m42, but i have a adapter for md.

Get the Minolta glass. It's as good as it gets and the prices are very reasonable.
