Hmmm... what is that head/prism on the XK? Why is a separate viewfinder attached? From the lens scales I can see that the lens is pretty wide - 20mm?

It's the 21mm F4 W.Rokkor.QH Not a common SRT lens
It only works with mirror lockup. So no through the lens viewing.
I have the SRT correct Minolta 21mm Viewfinder, but I prefer this 21mm finder for Yashica SLR.
And a I added the 20mm F2.8 MD Minolta Hood which works great with this lens.
I bought it from a Guy who was using it with his Leica with 21mm Super Angulon.
Fantastic combo for grab shooting. Works on the SRT's and SRM's also.

Minolta had always gone it's own way, the 9000 was the only AF pro body with a detachable motor drive which took 12 AA + 2 for the body, I have both the drive and the winder which takes 4 AAs. The dedicated flash package takes another 10 or is it 12 AAs, for the main flash, battery handle and the smaller flash for the hot shoe. Last week I took it out, left the drive at home and used the winder, had to shoot indoors and wished I brought the entire flash set up.

So, why is that done.? Why is an ABC in one country called an XYZ in another.?
Decisions on "branding" were often as not made by importers and distributors, rather than manufacturers.
And in some cases, trademarks in one country may not have been easily available in another.
Some times it can be hard to appreciate how much "bigger" the world seemed to be before the internet and before long distance telephone calls were cheap and easy.

My first "real" camera was the SRT-100 purchased 40+ years ago; still use it. My other bodies include the following: SRT-202, XD-11(chrome), XD-7(black), X-570, XG-M, and my recent addition, the XE-7.

'Have only shot for 30+ years the X-700. 'Own a couple of them and the MD & MD Rokkor lenses are great though some are expensive. 'Wish I could afford the 85 f2.

Yes that camera model is my latest purchase. So far it is working quite nicely but only have 1 lens to use on the P mode but my other Rokkor lenses work very well in the other modes. I really am liking the Rokkor 58mm f1.4 lens. Next lens I want to get is the 100mm lens. Would like the f2 but probably only afford the f2.8.

I need to pull out my Minolta bodies and lenses. Have a recently cla'd srt 102, 201, xg1 and xg370. Multiple versions of the 50/1.7 md rokkor, 35/2.8 mc rokkor, 28 celtic and 2 vivitar Minolta mount lenses (135/2.8, 200/4). Minolta lenses have always provided me fantastic images and the old srt bodies are built like tanks!
