My 9 appears to fail at returning to full open. It will stop down all the way to f22 but stays a stop or two from fully open on all lenses, whether using dof preview or changing the control dial. I noticed that the ring doesn't fully reach where it's travel would be mechanically stopped. The rollers are in correct position. The aperture moves so I think the gear might be fine, but the return spring may be weak or damaged.

I'd rather not repair this myself so I'd like to know of any shops currently working on the Dynax/Maxxum/Alpha line, especially if anyone has had this problem repaired on their AF Minolta.

Camera repair workshop in Milton Keynes might be able to help .
They were the main Minolta service centre in the UK.
Parts might be an issue if needed .

Edit , just noticed your in the states , who were the service centres over there ?

I have not found a tech person who can repair Minolta A mount boldies. My local repair will clean, lube and adjust if the shutter is whit in tolerance, but will not attempt a repair for lack of parts.

My Alpha 9's are fine, but after looking everywhere for a place that repairs Hi-Matic 9's, I sent it to United Camera Repair. They did an excellent job, were quick, and charged me what I expected to pay($100.00).

United Camera says they are out of parts and cannot fix this issue and do not know of anyone who can.

At this point I'm willing to try repairing it myself with a replacement brass gear from China if they exist.

If parts aren't available unfortunately it may be more time & cost efficient to buy a used working one

Although I like my 9, unless shooting wildlife and what the weather sealing, I generally use a 800SI or 9XI, both are lighter, have fast AF, shoot 5.5 FPS. The 9xi is dependent on those stupid cards for advanced feature, but in most cases I can shoot in either P or manual mode.
