I'm a bit confused by all the data here, but here is some thoughts.

I'm not sure you have eliminated the possibility that the wireless triggers aren't compatible with the higher shutter speeds.

And I hope that you haven't done something fancy with which curtain you are synching with.

Probably need to resort to using filters. 1/500s is just too slow for a bright sunny day, when shooting at f/2.8 with ISO 100.

So, shoot at 1/1000. I believe the flash should still sync at that speed with a lens shutter.

The fastest leaf shutters in general use are cock-and-shoot size #00 and #0 (Compur/Copal standard). They will sync with flash at nominal 1/500, actual somewhat slower.

The fastest sync speed for focal plane shutters in general use is, if what I know isn't too far out of date, 1/250. There are a few dedicated flashes -- Olympus made at least one -- that sync with higher shutter speeds by firing repeatedly as the focal plane shutter traverses the film, but I don't think that's what's wanted here.
