I got my SB24 in the mail today and I was testing it out on my FE2.

It seems to work but two things are perplexing me; their may be an issue.

After selecting the ISO and the F/stop on the LCD screen the f/stop "F" blinks and won't stop.

Also, there are no distance bars as seen in the screen shot.

If anyone has this flash and camera, can you tell me if this is a fault or this is normal for this camera/flash combination?

I don't know about the blinking f stop but the distance scale is not visible when you till the flash head upward for bounce.

I never had this flash in hand, but glancing over its display and switchboard and having a glance at the manual, I consider it way too complex for someone just stepping over from full manual.
I already hinted in your other thread at using an oldschool flash and either using it at its own autoexposure function, or (if possible) connecting it via an SCA 3000 adapter for fill-in flash.
(For a dedicatedd TTL-only flash (including fill-in) Canon showed with their 300TL flash that a rather simple solution is possible.)

So I put some batteries in mine, turned it on off camera. Front curtain, TTL, ISO 100, F4. All distance bars light, f blinks, zoom changes focal length to preset focal lengths, 1 per press, Sel toggles between F and ISO.
Check the hot shoe contacts, clean with alcohol, clean contacts on the flash. With the shoe lock snug against the flash push the flash into the camera shoe with a solid push. A gentle push may not seat the flash into the shoe properly.

With the tilt at straight up the distance bars are not present and do not return until the head is at 90° with the lock fully seated in the lock position.
On my flash the distance bars with the head lock not fully seated in the lock position flashed until the lock seated once but will not repeat.
Operate the head up/down several times and left right several times. If it does not correct get some https://www.homedepot.com/p/CRC-11-oz-QD-Electronic-Cleaner-05103/205021975 QD Contact Cleaner and flush the slip rings in the head movement with the flash off camera and the batteries removed.

Thanks, mine is working just like that

Here's a link to a thread on photo.net about using the SB-24 on a Nikon FM-2 - I guess this can help.
