Took less than 1 minute to produce. We are heading to very disruptive times across all professions.

So far Discord is producing crap for me but I'm seeing many illustrations from other people that look good.To see if I could improve my original prompt (beagle eating Chrysler) I added some of your highfalutin instructions, which gave me "beagle eating chrysler, extreme detail, hyperreal, photorealistic, octane render, dramatic, detail, cinematic"

I notice it doesn't quite understand some context, so you get used to how it thinks and how to explain what you want. I hope they don't perfect it too much as half the fun is when it makes something totally unexpected but very cool. I wonder when the novelty will wear off for most though. More than anything, I'm finding it a way to exercise creative thinking.

I was given access to Dall-E today and it is amazing/horrifying how good it is. I asked it to do a portrait of me with the following prompt:

"angry teddy bear wearing a vintage camera around his neck smoking cigar"

The likeness is uncanny.

It's tough being this talented, I just try to stay humble.

I would treat this as an opportunity and challenge.
Use the AI as a tool or collaborator.

Try to start a project with and AI generated image and finish it yourself. Or pick one of your pieces and see where AI takes it.
Could be a nice journey, who knows?!

Otherwise, like many people said, AI won't take the camera&film from your hands

I expect that a better comparable to some of these creations might be a piece of symphonic music.
Or a very complex piece of multi-media art.

900 iterations is not 900 hours:

First, he said, he played around with phrasing that led Midjourney to generate images of women in frilly dresses and space helmets — he was trying to mash up Victorian-style costuming with space themes, he said. Over time, with many slight tweaks to his written prompt (such as to adjust lighting and color harmony), he created 900 iterations of what led to his final three images. He cleaned up those three images in Photoshop, such as by giving one of the female figures in his winning image a head with wavy, dark hair after Midjourney had rendered her headless. Then he ran the images through another software program called Gigapixel AI that can improve resolution and had the images printed on canvas at a local print shop.

The software made the iterations. There was only one print.

If a baker gets a client who wants an eclair made a certain way, and the baker tries 899 times to make the eclair exactly the way the client wants but fails only to succeed in meeting the approval of the client on the 900th try, who exactly is the baker - the one doing the baking or the client?

so he didn't operate the software or monitor his computer while different variations of his image were being iterated ?
and even if he didn't, I'm not sure why I should care.

I'm sure people with fancy cameras or plastic fantastic who use a darkroom to toil for their work
or people who made their submission to the contest with high end digital
(or their cellphone) and photoshop are complaining because they think they deserved it
not some video game designer who "did nothing". whole thing is a joke.

I wonder if the software keeps track of what is used to pay the licensing fees to all the people whose images were used by the software. from what I remember there is no free lunch.
