Had the wonderful opportunity to see a few of his prints at a gallery along side some Adams and Westons. Kenna's work definetly shows that you do not have to print large to make an impact. Even the size of the mat emphasises his approach to reduce the landscape to that one simple statement. If the video does not motivate a landscape photographer to go out on a miserable winter day I do not know what would.

Just curious, how big were most of his prints?

What a great little video. I've been a fan for years. Nice to see him at work in the field. His prints are about 8"x8".

Yes they are 8" by 8' prints matted to 16X20 if I remembeer correctly. It may have even been larger mat but definetly the mat was not square so if not 16X20 then 20X24 but think it was the former

How the heck is he not getting water drops on his lens? Several times in the video the snow is floating right at the camera. When the video pans back the umbrella guy is not holding the umbrella.

Do I assume, that when you reach a certain level in your art, the elements don't muck up your shot?

I've seen Half Light a couple of times, but not this video. Very inspiring.

I picked the Sept. 2010 issue of the UK magazine "Photography Monthly" - there's an interview with Kenna in it. Very interesting thoughts on slowing down and waiting.

(Also an article with Ian Berry of Magnum on street photography - apparently he mostly uses a couple of Leicas with film. Interesting as well.)

Thanks a bunch! I enjoyed the video a lot. I saw Mr. Kenna during a presentation at my alma mater CSU Sacramento. I've admired his work for over 20 years. He said he doesn't process his own film, but prints his own stuff if I remember correctly.
