Michael Kenna and Tim Rudman

Am I the only one that often mix works of those two giants ? I see some picture online, and I think: wow look this is something I have not seen from Mr. Rudman....then it turns out to be something from Mr. Kenna , and other way around.

I love peeps and their titles. Lol. If I met the queen I'd probably be like, "how's it hanging Liz?"

Not sure why you'd mix Kenna with Rudman. Kenna is pretty much exactly the same all the time. If it is a square with a tree in it with a slight sepia tone and long exposure it is probably going to be a Kenna or someone that is copying him. I don't see too many people copying him anymore though. Guess the world moved on.

Rudman's work tends to be rectangular from what I can recall. Harder to distinguish his work since he does a lot of different treatments to the images.

Michael Kenna has an excellent book of Holga work.
I would be intrigued if I saw Tim Rudnan using a Holga.
I wouldn't be surprised though if they were aware of each other.

Sounds as if both are condemned by your faint praise

On meeting the Queen even DT refrained from making such a greeting I suspect she has a look that is petrifying when greeted that way. That is petrifying in the literal sense i.e. the ability to turn an object into stone as was Lot's wife.

Hell fire and brimstone may not have been a concept invented in the U.S bible belt

I've met both, have books from both, but wouldn't consider them to be similar in style at all. As mentioned above, when I see a Kenna photo, I know it's his, or someone emulating his style. Birds, trees, long exposures...square prints, slight sepia toning are all hallmarks of his style. Dr. Rudman shoots of a variety of subjects, in different locations, uses different developing and toning techniques, is known for his lith work...I guess some of the subjects are similar, but I guess for me I'm too aware of their bodies of work to mistake one for the other. Now if you confused Rolfe Horn and Kenna, that would be understandable (considering the former trained with the latter) as Horn is basically a Kenna clone (even his website is extremely similar to Kenna's).
