6X6 glassless ones "pop" like hell in the projector with the heat of the projection lamp because the film area is so great, GePe glass ones are the best in my experience to keep the image in focus across the image area.

heat from the projector lamp makes the film expand in its mount, distorting it, pushing it out one direction or another. then your image is out of focus on the screen. you may be able to re-focus, but maybe only part of the image will be in focus.

I haven't had a big problem with it. I figure if the slide's been in there for 15-30 seconds and it "pops", time for the next slide. but it depends on the application, thus my question as to what you are trying to accomplish.

I've used various MF glass mounts, mainly Ge-pe, in the past without any real problems. I think the main key is to make sure the slides are mounted and kept in dry conditions, and check them from time-to-time either for moisture or any residues which seem to occasionally out-gas from the emulsion. I'm not keen on the old-fashioned plain glass and binding tape method, as they seem to attract and trap moisture, whereas the plastic- or metal-and-glass versions seem to give a little "ventilation" to the film in storage and projection (same issues with 35mm mounts).
