Metz 180 Flash Manual?

I have procured an inexpensive Metz 180 flash gun and a Yashica Electro 35 GSN camera. I know little about flashes. I am having difficulty getting a copy of the user manual for the Metz flash. Also I am wondering if it is a suitable flash to use on the camera? Does anyone have a link to a manual for Metz 180 flash? Will they cooperate?

I never came across this model. But it seems so simple as to be used with the most basic flash knowledge.

It's probably a good match in terms of age for the camera. The camera was a superb performer when released and still no slouch today the Yashinon lenses were superb, my sister had one and her negatives were as good as mine from my Spotmatic F.

You don't need a manual it's a simple auto flash, set the USO on the flash, focus the camera then check the Focus distance on the lens and use the flash dual to read and set the aperture. It's the GSN manual you need to see how to use the camera manually

Metz only had 3-digit flash models (180, 182, 185) back in the 1960s; Metz later changed to the model number in which the number is the Metric Guide Number, like Metz 32 = GN32 metric, Metz 45 = GN45 metric.
If the flash has not been used, the power storage capacitor may not be able to be charged up by the high Voltage charge circuit, and the ready light never turns On as a result.

A photo of an old model 180 shows that it has no photosensor, so would be a manual power only (probably only full power), as Agx mentions. You would have to use Guide Number arithmetic to calculate what f/stop to use on the lens, based upon the flash-to-subject distance, per the calculator dial on the back of the flash.

You are right the listing I found was wrong on closer inspection it's the 185 that's auto.

Being a manual flash that doesn't have variable power there is no need for any manual.

Unless all the previous owner(s) had been religious about following Metz instructions to periodically 're-form' the power capacitors, it is highly likely that the capacitors have dried out and no longer hold a charge, so ready light never lights up because there is insufficient charge to fire the flash tube. Buyer beware!
