Here is two versions maximizing (developer activity and stain) of a water based catechol pyro developer. Catechol, in my opinion, is the sharpest solvent available for any developer and gives consistent results with rotary and standard processing.

A water base is preferred to minimize pollution by using freshly cleaned (wet) syringes.

Part A

MCAT: (Metol/Catechol)

70 ml dist water
2g sodium sulfite
6g catechol
1g metol
top to 100 ml dist water

PCAT: (Phenidone/Catechol)

70 ml dist...

I made a batch specifically for divided, using more sulfite to aid longevity.

70 ml dist water
4g sodium sulfite
6g catechol
1g metol
top to 1 l dist water

Like Diafine, I just top it up as the level get's lower.
