Fear not, no guard has had his equilibrium rocked by my daughter stealing photos of prehistoric pots. Most museums in the UK seem to accept that such activity is unstoppable, so they justify it as part of their educational function - which it is. Besides, she is making the stuff that will be in tomorrow’s museums.
I had assumed you were wiring about paintings and drawings, not 3D art in acrylic cases. They let you go right up to those.

Looks like he bounced the flash off the car roof interior liner. Not sure why, there is very little interior showing.cAnd it looks like it's blasting him in the face. too! But I am jealous you have the book. It is expensive nowadays.

The book is an exhausting visual feast, to be sure. Exhausting in a good way.

This is why he rode around in a car for a while.

Stems came about because he was hobbled after knee surgery and simply couldn’t stop making pictures.

Actually I was thinking America By Car, but, in fact I’m mistaken as that book was published before the surgery depicted above.

Not sure the flash he used (Metz?) had such settings. From what I remember of the book America by Car, (I unfortunately don't own that one) there is very little if any flash used to illuminate the car interior, the light is just ambient from all the windows in the greenhouse.

Metz has the ability for the photographer to tell the flash which aperture has been chosen to make the exposure, and the photosensor tells the flash to shut off output to make a proper exposure at that aperture. By lying and telling it the aperture is +1EV larger than the actual chosen aperture, it will underexpose the flash-lit portion of the frame by -1EV relative to what the camera shutter speed+aperture would expose.

IVe done the camera lens up against the window road before.. but its a crappy road..

you need to have a flexible rubber lens hood. And use a polarizer, and you CANNOT let the lens obtain any orientation other then perpendicular, or you get really really really funky double images.

I was only noting that nothing but the grave will stop Friedlander. The stem series came about simply because he couldn’t walk for a spell and he got curious about the contents of Maria’s vases around the house.

I do not think so, Friedlander is very strong willed.
