Metal Tongs

I hate the bamboo tongs with a passion! I'm looking for a source for good metal tongs. Not the ones from brandess/kalt HERE But the ones that are have springs in them that are kinda like reverse scissor action, if you get what I'm saying? I saw a pair on ebay but lost them (shoulda bid higher!)

Any info/sources would be grand

Thought not as nice as the Hama's, the plastic tongs available from various sources are much better than the bamboo. They are also cheaper than steel.

Lately, I've been wearing nitrile gloves and just developing prints by hand. I have reduced creases to zero and I like the feel of the process. The nitrile is both washable and dryable.

The method is the same as the old method without gloves. Assuming left to right placement of trays, left hand is dev into stop, right hand is stop into fix etc. Michael Smith keeps a bucket of warm soapy water for washing during the process.

I like the Kostiner steel tongs especially with the big numbers on them for the rare occasion that I let anyone in my darkroom. Theres a set on ebay at the moment.

You're right, Argus, the Hama tongs are indeed a pain. Multiple times, during lengthy printing episodes, I've become aghast upon finding stains on my prints from them. Grrr!

I also carry the Hama ones, not many takers usually though. I have an old pair here that look very similar with "mafi" inscribed on the handle. No rubber tips and very flat and easy to clean. If anyone sees any like this out there please speak up! I'd love to get my hands on 4 more.

This surprises me. I've had my Hama tongs for years, at the end of printing sessions I open them, rinse them briefly in water, shake them and put them away. I have never had a stain caused by the tongs!
