A thread from last year has been re-opened, with one of the discussions being another photographic outing.

I propose that we have an outing in August, say around the middle of the month, maybe Saturday the 14th.

I suggest we go to a regional destination, with actual photographing being the main event.

I mentioned in the other thread that we (the missus and I) intend doing some photographic excursions during winter and into spring. Some of them being Kilcunda and the Brisbane ranges national park.

The discussion wended it's way around a few things and the Pinnacles on Phillip Island came up.

Another place could be Queenscliff and the Historic train station, not to mention the abundance of Steam trains and carriages, just itching to be photographed.

I open the discussion.

Week beginning 9th August I'm booked for a 4-night sortie around Wilsons Prom, so The Pinnacles at Woolamai are a fav for me on 14th (en route home), then Tassie. Pinnacles is a place of dramatic landforms (and equally dramatic surprise waves) so some protection needs to be taken for exposed cameras against spray. Simple eateries nearby but nothing too flash. Anything up the ladder is further down the blacktop in Cowes, now sadly sans-Isle of Wight pub.

Ah! That makes more sense. I'll be out at Mirboo North by then so Wilson's Prom sounds good...

Ah-ha! There's also Noojee!
Just out of town, the delightful Toorongo Narrows, rainforest, 2 waterfalls (much more sedate than the Otways) and the bonus of quite decent eateries in the main street — though not a great deal else in the former timber town.

The 14th is still not locked in. It could be another date. I think the 14th is fine for me, but I'm also flexible for other dates.

Yes the 14th isn't locked in, neither is a destination.

It's probably prudent to let this run a bit, say to early to mid July. This will allow some who chance upon this on their weekly APUG perusal to respond.

The only thing I would like, is to keep it to a Saturday.

I already have a place to stay at Philip Island so I would be happy to participate if the outing is near there. Lots of places for food/coffee in Cowes.

I can come as long as it's not the weekend of the 21st/22nd - have 2 birthdays in the family - and one is a 6 year old who would never forgive me if I wasn't there

I'd love to make this one, since I was following the thread of the last one, then was offline and forgot all about it for the couple weeks leading up to it... so I'll make an effort to attend this one! All Saturdays in August are good for me at the moment.

Well the 7th is no good for some, the 14th is no good for some, the 21st is no good for some, no one has mentioned the 28th.

How about we settle the date, Saturday the 28th of August?

The destination can then be discussed, hmmm, what do you all say!
