...ZERO diagnostic information to determine logic states of various inputs and expected outputs for any technician to derive any troubleshooting capability.
Exactly.

I would not overestimate that supply problem. Typically the cameras containing such custom parts were mass produced.
With prices of today a complete donor camera will likely be cheaper than the spare part alone billed by the workshop back then.
And one still can swap complete cameras...

It's much faster to swap complete sub-assemblies than repairing to component level.
All warranty service shops of my acquaintance have used this technique for decades.

If all else fails, jack up the serial number plate and slide a working camera under it.

With a donor camera you can do as you like, change assemblies or components...

Why bother when the price of a replacement camera is still cheaper than the repair.

I once got $275 to CLA a lens.. for that money today you can buy several RB lenses n use the other as a paper weight.

The best scam are digital cameras.... they drop in price the day after they hit the streets like used cars. A body costing $1500, in 3 years worth $200.. why bother? $400 is the min fee for the manufacturer for looking at it only so they can tell you they can give you a nice discount on a new camera?

I see people replacing shutters on these digitals, because they have a certain shutter actuation limit, then its garbage. But or for jsut $500, they can replace the entire shutter box. HUGH? But that camera is obsolete by 3 newer models at that point!

replacing assemblies in these electronic cameras is no picnic.... its brain surgery!

I was just wondering where a thread like THIS ONE might be found a moment ago -
Where I wondered If ALL SRT's are mechanical.
Serendipity Here it is !!!
