MCC 110

If the factory closed in 2014, where was coming from the Oriental FB paper I bought until last year (i.e. 2020) from B&H?
I believe the current Oriental paper is contract coated on Harman Technology's machinery.

So, is it Oriental paper (as written on the box) or not?

Sure it is.
Contract manufactured by Harman for the owners of the Oriental brand.

It is great that you can coat it yourselves now. "slightly off parameters" , does that mean somewhat reduced high/low contrast rendition ? When do you think it will be available at Fotoimpex ? When it comes to making profit, I don't think a 10 - 20 % increase in price would be any problem as long as you keep the top quality that you have spoiled us with. Even more ?!? Well, let me take a deep breath first before I make the payment. Just go for it !!!!

I just did a happy dance, hearing this.

I was never able to get the first run here in Australia, other than a sample pack from my local store, and as an "Agfa kid" from way back, I was blown away. I can only hope that it makes its way here, the supplier here is a little fickle when it comes to Adox products. ie: limited to what they want to stock and it's pretty limited.

Agree with your statement - I purchased the original Agfa because I loved it, and it was far more expensive than the other products on offer during the 80s, 90s and early 00s.

It gave me the wonderful results I was after and once I had my processes all worked out, rarely had problems with exposure and development; it just worked seamlessly with my Agfa film of choice, as well as Ilford and Kodak.

Knowing what I was getting was important, and yes, I realise that other manufacturers will give similar results to their users, but for me, Agfa was my brand of choice regardless of it being that bit more expensive than their competitors.

Keep it up @ADOX Fotoimpex - can't wait to hear that it's ready to roll out!

Would love to have this paper back! Not liking the Foma VC papers and Ilford is hard to get a hold of and expensive here in Australia.

I don't think that there is much to give an update about.

Also, didn't they mention somewhere (here, there or Instagram) that under current market conditions they couldn't price the paper high enough to not make it at a loss on their machine?

Cheap MCP/MCC is probably gone for good.

Ya, I get it ( with a sigh). Lupex is very expensive. People buy it. But I guess your right, it is or will be soon gone forever. That stinks

A question to Team ADOX / Mirko : How much would , for example, a box of 50 sheets 9,5 x 12 inch cost from the Fotoimpex store in Berlin in order to make the production profitable on an acceptable level ?
If the quality just can be maintained on the top level where the paper used to be ( there were a few quality dips ) , I am sure that many with me could accept a higher price, let be that we might have to take a somewhat deeper breath when making the payment. Let's hope for the resurrection.

There is an obvious market for high-end papers

Personally I would pay double for this paper compared to Foma, and a quite a bit more then ilford

If you compare the prices of a 50-pack of 9,5 x 12 inch glossy paper of different brands, they are listed as follows on the Fotoimpex web site :

ADOX MCC 110 ( not available ) : 78,54 Euro
Fomabrom Variant 111 : 69 Euro
Ilford Multigrade Classic : 100,50 Euro
Ilford Multigrade Warmtone : 117,40 Euro

These figures give a relatively good idea of the price differences even if they may vary between different suppliers.
MCC 110 is a top quality paper and if necessary, set the price tag on the same level as Ilford MG Classic or even MG WT.
Some years ago when the magazine "Silvershotz" still was printed, they made a test of different photo papers and MCC 110
was named as the worlds best paper. I can only agree. So therefore : Raise the price and start coating !!!

I'd pay double the cost of Ilford papers, as long as Mirko reverts to the glossy MCC 110 top coat ADOX used a decade ago, namely, one that was much less reflective than recent production batches when air dried.

Of course, ADOX could go broke assessing the market based on my willingness to pay and preference for low shine.

I really liked the Emaks, then they tanked, then I got used to variotone, that went away. Then I was using adox, this has gone away. Foma is ok but not mcc 110.
