I didnt even get the chance. Acros was gone before the announcement of its discontinuation was even confirmed.
I'm not sure about the situation in the US, but here in the UK there's still loads of medium format Acros for sale. I considered stocking up when I saw it was discontinued. However, as I can't tell the difference between Acros, FP4, Delta 100 or T-Max 100 in my final prints, there seems little point...particularly as it's significantly more expensive in 120 format than those other films (FP4 £21.50, Delta £22.25, T-Max £25.00, Acros £28.33 for 5 rolls inc. postage from my usual supplier).
Acros is, BY FAR, the cheapest 120 black and white film in the US. Or at least it was.
$30/5 rolls of Delta 100.
$24/5 rolls of Acros.
Ilford cost 25% more than Acros.
No store that I can find is selling Acros for retail price in the US. None. The price has nearly tripled since the discontinuation. I see loads of Acros for sale for $57.99/5 rolls.
foma is 4.59/roll at b+h
foma is 4.39 at adoramma
arista is 4.29 at freestyle
photowarehouse has jch street film as well ... not as cheap but its there.
there's still film ... and short date i am sure
is even cheaper when you can find it ..
You're still paying less for Ilford film than I am...even though it's made just up the road from here. So think yourself lucky!
That can't possibly be true? Fuji gave everyone a heads up one year ago Acros was going away, you were the one who posted it here.
You are very much mistaken.
not sure how your opinion of fuji changed between 11 months ago and a couple of days ago.Fujifilm's famed "commitment to film" shows how empty a promise this has been for years.
do you mean this thread: >>>>> https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/fuji-acros-100-4-x-5-to-be-discontinued-after-2018.147146/
that was 4x5, but the writing was on the wall,
not too far off .. you mentioned in the thread they were getting rid of the acros line soon
its surprising you didn't stock up. if i knew they were going to axe my favorite film
even if i knew i would have to ship it across the pacific back to the states,
i'd have bought as much as i could.
you also say

It's real simple. I thought that once a film was discontinued I'd have time to stock up. I've witnessed many films cease production and each time if I wanted to, I could buy the film for nearly 12 months past the discontinuation announcement. Hell I could buy Ektachrome film in China 4 YEARS after it's discontinuation. With Acros, the film was 100% out of stock *before* it was officially discontinued.
See how simple that is?
Seems like you have a very powerful ability to see into the future.
Actually, it's using past experiences to guide future actions. If every other film that I witnessed get discontinued go out of stock immediately upon the appearance of a rumor of its demise, I would have acted far differently.
Well, after I wrote my first comment in yours thread, the 13 Friday hit me. It looks like Ilford is going to impose price increase on film and paper to the level I marked as cut off price level to stop using film as my main creative media.
I have never shoot any 2nd tier films and have no interest in them. My reference point above was regarding only the top tier film producers (Kodak, Ilford, Fuji). That was not clear from my post.
Why? If you've never used it, how do you know it isn't for you?
Would you lump Rollei in there too? Have you seen results from the Retro 80s film? You may be surprised if not.
That's what I'm struggling with. I tried shooting medium format full time for a while but it became prohibitively expensive when using a lab to develop and scan, and that was pre price rises. Spending £60 on film and dev/scan costs only to have 2-3 images you like come back is soul destroying.
I like film and will continue to shoot it as long as it's available, but only every now and again as a treat

isn't 11 months enough time to stock up ??It's real simple. I thought that once a film was discontinued I'd have time to stock up. i find it really weird you post so much negative stuff directed towards kodak and fuji yet you buy their products.
That's because you lack comprehension.
not really .. for 5years you have railed against kodak and fuji because they are mismanaged and somehow
jilted you. and you only buy their products and continue to complain.
what is it i am not comprehending ???
If I was p1ssed off with both Kodak and Fuji, I'd have switched to Ilford a long time ago. Though I guess you can absolutely love a film but hate the company who makes it.
