hi again ...

can anyone suggest material i can use as a light-block in hand made paper holders ? i have made a rather large 11x14 holder ...
it is a tri-fold holder ( the paper is put on the bottom of a piece of foam core, then a hinged 1ply matboard with a cut out folds on top of it, and finally a piece of foam coare with a cut out folds on top of it. ) all hinges are 1" masking tape ... another uncut sheet of 1ply board slides between the 2 boards with windows cut in them and is a "darkslide" of sorts. in order to slide the darkslide between the 2 boards ( and remove it all from the back of the camera ) i have to separate them a tiny bit, and i am worried that my paper will get fogged ....

can anyone suggest material to use to block light ?
i have some felt, and was going to use that, but was wondering if it would actually work ... would i just cut out pieces for the end/s, or would i cut a window'd piece and glue the whole thing down to one of the sheets ?

oh, i know i can probably find a film holder ( a real one ) for about 200$ used, and then i would have to find a back for the camera too, AND have to money to buy both  ( which i don't have  )

thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Hi John
Maybe a fabric with a pile like velvet would be a better choice than felt. The fibers would block the light and inserting the dark slide displaces them so there is always a seal.

hi richard

thanks for your suggestion
i happen to have some sort of weird velvet-y stuff vinyl on the other side.
i forgot that i used it to replace "whatever that stuff is" that makes contact with
the film holder or the rotating back on my graflex slr ... just glued it in

thanks for your thoughts
john
