Hi

Feeling stupid, like I did the first times in a darkroom all those years ago....

Trying to learn to use my printer (R2400) and am running up against the "it looks nothing like what's on my monitor when printed" problem. The monitor is calibrated as well as is possible with a Spyder2pro. I'm using CS2. Images are from B&W film scans (from a pro service)

Problem is all the (B&W) prints come out very dark .....

Please tell me I'm doing something really simple and stupid that's wrong.....

Step one. Calibrate Monitor. Check.
Step two. Use Epson inks on Epson papers or hope like heck the ink manufacturer has supplied profiles for your paper.
Step three. "Allow Photoshop to Determine Colours" in Print Preview. Relative Colormetric. Black point "on".
Step four. Select the "Epson" supplied paper "Profile" that matches the paper you are using from the drop down list, i.e. Premium Glossy. Click "Print" and the printer driver dialog opens (ingore the way the colours look in the print preview they are not colour accurate!!).
Step five. Select your paper, resolution options and check ICM and check NCA (no color adjustment). Click print and it should work.
