I'm telling u chip clips are very effective... Unless you're concerned with having a professional looking operation ... Then they are ridiculous looking hahaha... The teethy ones grip well and let water escape past the teeth

Thanks! I was gonna look at them and also the binder type clips from office supply stores. Just wasn't sure if there were some actual film clips that I could get.

My operation is definately not professional! Haha.

Here's an off-topic comment: In the pictures of your roll, you included a bit of your darkroom, and I noticed that you store your beakers upright. I suggest storing beakers upside-down to prevent dust from accumulating in them. Dust in developer or fixer might stick to your film. Or maybe you shoot enough that it's never a problem...

I suggest storing beakers upside-down to prevent dust from accumulating in them. Dust in developer or fixer might stick to your film. Or maybe you shoot enough that it's never a problem...

Thanks Mark. I usually do shoot a bunch, especially this time of year. And since I just got my new darkroom set up I have quite the backlog of film to develop!

So just to update everyone, the humidity in my darkroom has gone up to 50% and this problem is completely gone. Didn't need a light, nor a fan in my drying cabinet, didn't need new film clips, just needed more humidity. I purchased a humidifier for next winter to keep humidity up. Also I wanted to add that I've developed some Tri-x from when Kodak still made it and also some of the newer KA Tri-x and there is no difference in how they dry. Just wanted to clear the air on that which was rumored earlier in this thread.

Does your Tri-X say Kodak Alaris on the packaging? If so, it will be the first film I've heard of that reflects Kodak Alaris on the packaging. I've seen some of the photo-chemistry with Kodak Alaris on the packaging.

I've got a feeling they have a whole bunch of prepaid packaging they are trying to use up.

Have Kodak finally cured the curling problem?
I've been plagued by it for years with 135 TRI-X films : no matter what I did (slow drying high humidity level in my darkroom) I'd always get films that were bent so much it was hard to insert them into their filing sleeves.

Well NO MORE! I just processed a bunch of TRI-X and I'm glad to report I cut some flatter than flat films! As docile as HP-5!

Fyi they're from a "03/2018" "1921" batch.

Negatives can be flattened by storing them in wallets which store the film face to face and back to back, unlike the flat files in which the negatives all face the same direction. For decades I've used 35-7A wallets from Print File, Inc., which unfortunately are no longer available.

I just tried a roll of 120 foma film...you want see curl!...I never have a problem with kodak or ilford..ever

I always us a metal film clip the added width over just using a clothes pin is quite dramatic. The clips that I use for 35 mm have an added lead weight in them.

BTW the only film that I have observed that just does not curl or cup is Eastman Double-X. A joy to work with it remains completely flat in the enlarger carrier.

How much a film curls depends on whether it has a backing layer or not. The 120 films usually have a gelatin backing layer. The tendency to curl is thus counteracted.

i've used patterson weighted clips on 35mm and 120... in cold basement, florida humidity, a/c cooled, northern and southern climes, only fans and more.

never had any curl... maybe it's been just luck - sure hope i won't be hexed now!!!

Mine curls like that... that's why I just close the door and don't watch it. When I open the door again it's straight... just like magic
