While looking for instructions for a camera I came across this site where you can download user manuals for various items.

http://safemanuals.com/references.php

It is also possible to upload manuals to the site.

I am just copying the instructions for the Durst M370 to PDF in preparation for uploading.

I thought others could find it a useful site.

Lots there. I had almost always used butkus.org in the past but I'll bookmark this one. Thanks.

I haven't been able to download from that site. I get a license agreement when I click on a file, but the accept button is grayed out. I'm running Linux, which could be the problem; or it could be my firewall software....

Does anyone know of other sites where it is possible to get free downloads of old manuals?

Two Yahoo groups I know of have manuals: the Dead Link Removed has manuals for various Russian cameras (Zenits, FEDs, etc.) and the Dead Link Removed has manuals for Philips Tri-One (PCS series) enlargers and accessories. I suspect other Yahoo groups also have manuals, so you might try searching for groups devoted to particular brands or types of equipment. There's also a Dead Link Removed for various Russian cameras, mostly Zenits. Most of these are in Russian, but many have English or other language versions available, as well.

More broadly, I've often found manuals by searching for "{name} manual" on Google or other search engines. Such searches often turn up people trying to sell manuals (mostly photocopies, I imagine) and eBay sales of the equipment in question, but there's often a hit on a downloadable manual in the first page or two of results. This is often at butkus.org, as referenced by ic-racer.
