Manual film camera

From the original post, I can not tell if you are looking for a SLR or simply any camera that is smaller and manual. The Olympus OM series are an excellent platform and you can do even a might betterf with their F/FT/FTV series. Now that is 1 small SLR. If other than an SLR the Leica CL or Minolta labeled version is my choice as it is real Leica quality on a budget. For something more compact something like a Zeiss Contina II with Nova shutter is difficult to beat. The front folds up similar to the Olympus XA, has a decoupled rangefinder that is easy to work with. Smaller? Look for a Minox 35mm but get a late s/n ML if looking at the ML. I prefer the MDC or late ML over the other models as these can be used as manual cameras.

If you insist in a "small" camera; consider the Rollei 35 S

That would be a Zeiss Ikon Contina II with a Novar (not Nova) lens. Great little cameras, and the ones with the Tessar are better.

As always, a budget will help people offer suggestions. I'm a bit surprised that no one has suggested a Leica LTM or CL/CLE.

In any case, there are a lot of different cameras out there.

I currently use a 35 mm Holga and a SLR. I like the simplicity of the Holga but am looking for a camera that has a little more feature wise but is smaller than a SLR. I'm looking for something with an aperture ring. If anyone could give me ideas that would be great.

If you don't mind zone focus (you have experience with a Holga after all) why not try an Olympus Pen or Pen S?

I second the Pentax Spotmatic recommendation. They're small, rugged and very affordable right now. Plenty of lenses out there for them, too--KEH.com usually has a wide variety available. I have one that's literally been around the world with me and back, and apart from the usual repair jobs that come with many years of use, it's never let me down.
