I'm up for anything -- in the past I always dismissed Manitoba for greener pastures but now that I'm back I'm eager to see what it has to offer. Just being in downtown Winnipeg after many years away was great -- I forgot how many photogenic places there are. I'm hoping to go in just to have a bit of a walkabout with my camera after all this rain stops. That being said, it would great to go out with like-minded individuals who don't get impatient when it takes more than ten seconds to take a picture. ;-)

Thanks to everyone also for sending me to the Labworks and Photo Central. Very helpful and friendly people in both places -- something I hadn't experienced that often these past years in Toronto and France.

Had a great time today in Spirit Sands provincial park with thebanana (it's Manitoba's "desert") and would recommend it to anyone. I was so happy with my images I didn't even notice hauling my tripod, 4x5, assorted kit and the Xpan over 10 or so kilometers! Memo to self: in future, bring trail mix.

Happy to do the Fringe, or anytime in the Peg, FWIW.

BUMP - Anyone still keen to get something going?

Not sure if the Fringe will/can happen...but there is Gimli or Winnipeg Beach. And of course a walkaround in some area of the Peg...Just a thought.

Colin,

Give me a call at the school www.prairieview.ca

I'm a large format shooter and there are a couple of others here as well as a small group of APUG minded folk. I'm sure we could come up with something, as long as it involved film....and beer.

Hey you guys, I am away from home so I don't get to check these posts as often as I normally do, so I did not realize this was in the works. I am in Winnipeg now working on a series on the bridges. I am out every day with my 4x5 and will be here for 2 more weeks. If anyone wants to get together, let me know.
I can't believe I missed you two at the Spirit Sands. I was just there about 2 weeks ago.

I'm around saturday afternoon, sunday all day and monday afternoon (so far). Then next friday afternoon and saturday morning. Craig- I was wondering about info on that 5x7 enlarger too.

Tim

Tim - I love your quote.

I'm not 100% sure I could make it but why don't we tentatively (and quickly) choose either this weekend or next -- I'm available any day but the problem for me is getting to Winnipeg. The more notice the better.

Well I am going to be in Winnipeg for sure until Aug 9th. If anyone is getting together for a shoot or coffee or a brew or two, post it here, and I will attend.

This upcoming weekend is out for me, as I'm doing some (analog) photo projects for the Folk Festival in Brandon. Just a thought, but why not come out for that? A good time, and pretty inexpensive too.

But, the weekend after that is OK. I'd be interested in hearing more about the bridge project (Winnipeg's a great city for that) and it'd be great to see the school, as I've heard about it previously.

BUMP -

Gimli's Icelandic festival is coming up this weekend. So far it looks like a go for me to check it out.

Let m know if any of you can make it out!

Hi Colin -- The Icelandic festival is also on my gameplan for this weekend. My plan is to be there Saturday, and possibly Monday as well.
