Mamiya Sekor 80 mm 2.8 loose focusing ring

Hi all,
my first post - I've searched for this issue but can't seem to find anything - if missed, please excuse me.

So. A while ago I bought a Mamiya Sekor 80 2.8 at an online auction. Got it, started to use it when I noticed the focusing ring is very loose. I carefully set the focus, fire it and bang, the movement of the mirror shifts the focus! Very annoying. I'm trying to keep a finger on the focus ring to prevent it but it not optimal.

What to do? Is there anything I could solve myself, any tricks? Is it worth finding someone to fix it? Bought it for around EUR 60 (which is a decent price here in Sweden). Should I just try to get a new one?

Any input would be great!

Hi Robert - welcome to APUG.

Which version, for which camera?

It probably requires the sort of maintenance incorporated in a CLA = Clean, Lubricate, Adjust. It may require more, especially if the problem is due to someone who is unskilled trying to fix it themselves.

Regular (every few years) maintenance is always a good idea.

IF the ring itself is loose, there would normally be three set/grub screws around the circumference of the focusing ring.
On some lenses these are underneath the rubber grip.
I doubt that it's old grease if it's as loose as you mention.
