Regarding diffusion - there are a lot of test videos out there. There's a really awesome one where a guy is choosing a camera package for a TV series, can't find it just now but here's a few:

Many of these are digital cinema related, but they show the subtle (or huge) differences that should apply to film stills as well.

News: My 127mm lens arrived, delivered personally by APUG member Zoltan who came to my country (Thanks!)

Initial impressions are very interesting -- the 127mm has a *very* different perspective (or angle of view) than the 90mm lens. The difference is striking. Depth of field is also significantly narrower (DOF is half the distance compared to the 90mm lens according to Mamiya's DOF tables).

I feel the 127mm lens is markedly "tele" rather than normal. So far it seems ideal for portraiture. Haven't tested it yet with actual prints!

I am glad i didn't buy the 180mm... depth of field would be too narrow for me (for portraits I like to work without tripod.)

Hi friends,

I couldn't help the Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) and bought a 180/4.5C lens the last weekend. I still have not made any shots with it, though. Also, i've yet to use the 127 lens(!!)... Now i have the 50, 90, 127, and 180 lenses. The 180 is lighter than i thought, a very reasonably-sized lens (for RB standards, that is.)

Let's see if i can shoot some comparison shots soon.

Congrats on the recent acquisition. I found my 180 as a nice addition to my array of RB lenses and have used it several times for landscape shoots that were out of reach for a standard lens.
