Picked up C330 but I cannot press the shutter release. I have tried what I was able to find online but still won't release. I don't think I am missing any possible locking mechanism. Do I need to take the side cover off or is it something simpler.

I'm not sure how the 330 is set up, but with the 220 I had you had to cock the shutter manually. If the shutter isn't cocked you can't move the release lever. In any case, go to Mike Butkus's site, orphancameras.org and download the manual for the 330 and find out if you understand the operation correctly. If you do everything right and it still doesn't work, you may have a problem that needs fixing.

Flip the switch on the side to multi and see if the shutter button trips the shutter. You need to make sure the cocking lever of the lens is under the cocking arm of the camera - and the shutter release of the lens is under the shutter pin on the camera. I don't think the camera will release the button unless the film is advanced to a number or the dial is set to multi. And there is a shutter lock sliding switch on the side of the camera (just in front of the single/multi dial).

I just dug mine out and looked at it. I should use it some time...

I had several C-series Mamiyas. Liked the C-22 best for the simplicity of it; the 220 and 330 got too complicated for me and I didn't like shooting with them. Since fallen into using the Minolta autocord for MF work and donated all my Mamiyas to VCP.

There is a shutter lock on the side of the camera.

The manual has an excellent 2-page spread that outlines all the conditions under which the shutter button will not work:

I have an actual copy but the above is from Butkus.

I ended up taking the right side panel off and figured it out. There was a small lever that was not moving due to dried up oil. Applied electronic spray to clean it and oiled and now working fine.
