Supply and demand. They're quite light, and have a modest selection of lens interchangeability. Not totally problem-free. I opted for a 6x9 Fuji RF instead. Bigger image area, equally good lens (but not interchangeable lenses), a fraction of the price on the used market. I already have a Pentax 67 system and 6x9 roll film holder for my 4x5 cameras. Just can't justify the expense of another system. Ran into a extremely clean M7i with 80mm lens for $1300 and should have bought it, but at the time had that money set aside for a mint P67 300EDIF lens PLUS a clean Fuji RF. For me, it was the right choice. But if you need someone to give a good comparison between these respective rangefinders, I'll be happy to test your M7 system for you and send it back a dozen years later. I give cameras real tests - rain, snow, saltwater, none of that Ken Rockwell nonsense. 6X6? no problem - any decent winch on the back of the truck can stretch it to 6x9.
