Hi , I just got a Mamiya 6 paired with the 75 mm G. I found a couple things are concerning me .

First , there is a noise when I shake the body , looks like the camera is working fine , but the noise is a little bit odd. Is it normal?

Second, looks like there is a haze or fungus on the rear element , it is only visible under strong light . Will this impact the image quality ?

I am still in time to return it, it was a good deal (1700 + tax + shipping ), however, the description was “near mint , clean and no issues “ 😅

I’m posting two short videos showing my concerns.

Thanhs in advance for the help.

Have you shaken it with film loaded?
I guess that the noise can probably come from the empty spool holders and/or the camera's film flattening rolls.
My Hasselblad A12 and WISTA 6x9 roll film holders are making a rattling noise when empty, but almost not when loaded.

But this is just an assumption as I don't have a 6MF.

As for the lens: the only exclusion of the problem is testing.
When I use a LED flashlight to shine through all my lenses (Hasselblad, Schneider and Rodenstock), then I get heart cramps...
But when shooting with them, the photos are all very sharp, which is reassuring!

If you allow me, I might suggest to do shoot a test film accurately, develop it correctly, scan it at high resolution and look at it 100% enlarged on a good screen, or just print it largely.

If that lens haze is on an external surface, you might be able to have it cleaned (if it hasn’t damaged the coating or glass), but sometimes that stuff is internal, within one of the clusters, and from what I’ve been told, it is not advisable to open one of those clusters due to tendency to create more optical problems than you are solving.

The rattle is most likely from the film spool and is of no concern. Fog on the rear element of the lens will affect image quality; have it cleaned by a professional!

Hi Ralph , there is no film, empty spool or lens attached to the camera 😕

It is not about an empty film spool I was talking, but the metal pressure rolls that hold de film flat and straight and the pins, up an under on both sides, used to hold the film's spools.

Alex, are the issues solved?

Hi Philippe, I sent it back , after chat with the seller , he said that their technician only checked basic functionality. The price was very low compared to other listed in eBay , that felt fishy . Too good to be real 😅. I will save more money and try to get one from a more reliable seller.
