This Sunday's New York Times Magazine will feature a fashion spread shot by the west African photographer, Malick Sidibe, based in Bamakao, Mali. His models were his extended family, and he used a Rollieflex, and shot 22 frames for the assignment.

You gotta love that!! Read about the shoot here:

He's one of the great names of African photography, neglected in the rest of the world, as almost anything what happens in Africa. He worked a whole life as social and portraiture photographer, quite a figure. He deserves all the recognition he can collect, so here is mine.

Yes, he's a wonderful photographer. His Hasselblad Award Winner 2003 book has some great insights to how he works as well as amazing photographs. I agree with Luis, he's one of the many wonderful African artists we don't hear a lot about.
