Making markings for 18x24cm on 8x10 groundglass

Well the title says it all.
I'm looking for advice as how to do this the easiest way. I don't want to screw up my groundglass so I need a precise method. I thought of just putting the groundglass over the holder and then take it from there, but I couldn't see anything through the glass when I tried it. I also thought of just measureing it up on the groundglass and make markings from that, although I'm not sure how precise that would be. Alternately, does any of you know a good place to get a replacement groundglass with the markings? It doesn't have to be anything fancy (no beattie and the like), it just has to work. By the way, it's for my new B&J 8x10.

Use a ruler and a sharp pencil. Mark the ground side of the glass. Use a paper template if you feel the need. If you screw up, wipe the pencil off the glass using glass cleaner (Windex or the like) and a paper towel. Repeat as often as necessary but let the glass dry completely between attempts.

One of the things i've done is to make a very light "X" to locate the exact center of the glass. Then measure the vertical and horizonal axes to the desired dimensions and draw heavier lines between the measured markes to make a rectangle.

edit: This is basically the method recommended by Dave Parker for marking GG like the SatinSnow GG that he sells. This method really works.
