I will stop shipping books September 30, 2013.

If you want one order it NOW.

The book is out-of-print. I have accomplished my goal of documenting and distributing the most thorough and accurate description of modern film manufacturing available. I have sold thousands of books to individuals and institutions in over 42 countries. My thanks to APUG readers for buying many copies of the book.

The price is $29.95 plus shipping etc.

Recommended! I bought a copy a while ago.....Documentation of a legacy that still leaves me teary-eyed, and will be remembered by less of us over time.... Someday (soon) I will use this book to help describe to young people what "film" was "back in the day"

Come on guys and gals. How many times in the past have all of you spent $30 or more on some piece of photographic paraphernalia that ended up being used only once, or less, then sitting on the shelf for eternity? It's the cost of a UV filter...

...and a whole lot more interesting.

Highly recommended. Good insight into how complex film really is, and why there will never be another Kodak.

I purchased the book as a 92nd birthday present for my father. He really likes it.

I think it's great too. I showed it around the Darkroom Group I belong to and, as I understand it, at least two of them also purchased it.

Bob is great to deal with, and the book made its way quickly to me in Canada.

Is it $29 or $49? The web site says $49.

If it's $29.95, I'll definitely order a spare copy. I bought a copy when it first came out, and I highly recommend it...full of color pictures and clear explanations even of the most technical matters.

Buy this book before it is gone. Great book on how film is made. Also Robert is a great person to buy from.

Worth the money! I doubt that many of us know how complex making film on an industrial scale really is. The book is handsome and well-produced. Go for it.

What's the total then?

I would like to buy it, but not sure how much to send you? Website's price in not in line with this post, but the post has no shipping cost? My pocket is getting hot.

I would suggest emailing Bob at the email on the website.

He may have raised the prices on the last few books without recalling this thread.

I emailed Bob and did not hear back from him so I just went ahead and paid the website price, I figure it is worth it either way. Bob, if the $29.95 price is still good for APUG members, just take that extra $20 and donate it to this site.

I'm just wondering, can one understand the book without any background in chemistry or film manufacturing?

It is incredibly informative and interesting even if you don't have the technical background. The photographs and diagrams are excellent.

But if you are intending to start up your own production line, I think you need the training!

Mine shows shipped, $50 bucks it is then, get em' while they last!

Personally, I spent a few hours with Kodak experts like Garret Kokx showing us every little detail of how it all works on the modern coating line in 2009...this will bring back all the little details I have forgotten.
