Mail Order Lab Recommendations for 35mm?

Anyone have a good, reliable, mail order lab they are currently using for 35mm slide film? I want to send my 35mm slide film to get developed, E-6 processing. My local lab has been having trouble recently and after having several problems with Dwaynes, I need to find a new lab. The only other "labs" in my area are local pharmacies and Walmart. Any suggestions?

It should be noted that in the US now, Fujichrome processing (i.e. trannies only), is now done for them by Dwayne's. I'm not aware of Fuji offering "in-house" processing of print film.

I've been really happy with Dwayne's for Kodachrome, and I'm thinking of giving them a try the next time I shoot any Fuji slide film as well to see how they do. I do have a local lab who can do same-day E6 and I've been using them when I shoot Fuji slide film.

if/when you drop off at a walmart or sam's club or ?? unless it is a chrome film, 120 format or b/w they do it inhouse at fuji. they used to do it in ct somewhere, but now ship it all to albany new york. i have been dropping off a lot of film there, and haven't really had much trouble. we have about 7 or 8 rolls to pick up tomorrow

Any ideas about price? I was considering using Peak to process some 120 colour since Snappy Snaps wants an eye-watering amount and nowhere else locally does 120 without going into Central London.

They are excellent with all processing of Fuji slide film. What they really excell at is prints from slides - they have three levels of scanning from Fuji Frontier to drum scanning. I do my own scanning of the slides, then send them the digital file for supergloss prints on Fuji Crystal archive paper.

I use mainly Astia, not Velvia, and have had no problems with the Slideprinter. Their prices are reasonable, also.

I forgot to add, that the manager of the Slideprinter, Suzie Matthews, will definitely talk to you on the phone if there is any kind of problem. They still give personalized one on one service.

For Ektachrome/Kodachrome I buy Kodak mailers from B&H. I have sent slides to Slideprinter, Dale Labs and others with mixed results and some outright disasters. Kodak seems to do the most consistantly good work with my slides. $8.95 per mailer.

mail order horror story

O.K. so i had earlier recommended a&i, now i'm not so sure. Having spent the better part of $350 on gas, food, lodging, film & processing on a trip to Death Valley, I shot 3 rolls and sent them off to the lab. 2 of the 3 rolls are presently lost in the return mail!

My recommendation? If the images are important, you're probably better off doing your own processing.
