Even if you have good eyesight, parts in photographic devices are usually too small to see all the details or to be able to handle them safely.

Magnifying glasses are the ideal solution here.

Both hands remain free and prescription glasses as well as safety glasses can be worn underneath.

I have this very durable model, anti-static, with interchangeable magnifying lenses 2.5 x, 4 x, 5 x and 7 x.

2.5 and 4 are suitable as all-rounders, 5 and 7 for detailed work.

There are less inexpensive knock-off also.

It was only last year that I ventured into repairing cameras. In this respect, my experiences are limited.
I bought this magnifying glass for this work. What I really appreciate is the optimal lighting, which is very bright and always comes from the right direction:

I've had a pair of magnifiers for years. Got them for doing my pen-and-inks and block-printing, but they are indispensable for working on cameras, watches, taking tiny splinters out of body parts, etc.
