Just pulled the trigger on a Corning PC 320 and some stir bars. I think that this will work well for me.

Nice unit. Good luck with it.

A stirrer is a nice thing to have. I'm sure tempted to get a higher-capacity one; mine's only good to 1L.

Got my PC 320 and had to try it out. I have 500ml of 10% potassium dichromate that had a nice layer of dichromate crystals on the bottom from my cold darkroom last winter. I crushed up the crystals and put the 500ml of solution plus the crystals in a 1000ml beaker and on my new 320.
I was surprised how quickly it heated the solution and with the stir bar spinning it was short work.
Great piece of kit...look forward to using it in the future!

Tried a little experiment. I was wondering if my new (to me) Corning PC 320 would mix a large batch of chemistry. I will occasionally mix a 5ltr batch of XTOL so I put a 6ltr plastic bucket with a flat bottom on the 320 with 5ltrs of water and the large stir stick (two inch) in the bucket. It easily spun from minimum to maximum speed. You obviously shouldn't use the heat with a plastic bucket:whistling:, but I think that it will work with chemicals like XTOL that don't require really hot water. I was impressed by this neat little unit and the bucket was very stable on top of the magnetic stirrer.

I have an small old Nikor unit, never had instructions, however, use to mix up a gallon at a time without problems.
