Hi!
I needed a new laptop and have always wanted to try a Mac, so I just ordered a new MacBook Pro M1. I was going to buy this HP ENVY 16" Touchscreen Intel Evo Platform Laptop - 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H - Intel Arc A370M Graphics - 120Hz Windows 11 Professional, but decided to try a Mac instead. Maybe I made a mistake? If so I'll find out later I guess, but for now it's going to be a learning process to get things going on the Mac.
Here's my question. I have a Nikon LS8000 and was wondering if it was better to try to run it on the MacBook Pro or just keep it on the Dell desktop PC I have. I also have DXO software and Vuescan Pro, but I prefer NikonScan 4. Is it possible to run those programs on the MacBook Pro? If folks here have had experience operating those programs on a newer Mac I would appreciate their advice and or any helpful links to MacBook Pro info. I sure hope this old dog can learn a new trick?

Nikon Scan won't work on your Macbook Pro M1and you'll need 3 adapters to connect LS8000 to the Mac (TB3 to TB2, TB2 to FW800 and FW800 to FW400).

I can get by using Vuescan and the adapters, but I think it might be wiser to just use the Dell PC for scanning and the Mac for retouching. I’m going to be doing much researching as to software. I actually have AffiniTy, DXO and ACDSEE. Just have to figure out what will work on the Mac. This should be an adventure and a good winter project.

FWIW, FW800 to FW400 is just a cable. So you need just 2 adaptors
