M700 light leak

Just bought the Durst M700 it has the cls70 colour head fitted. When the light is on there is a lot of light coming out thefront of the head where the glass with the square grid is.Is this normal or is it missing something

I don't have an M700 but I had a similar but smaller M601 and CLS66 colorhead. I bought both new back in the late 70's and the color head came with a piece of black plastic to replace the green grid piece in the front of the enlarger. I suppose you could make one out of an old dark slide or something similar, I wouldn't use black poster board but you could try it. There was also a "plug" furnished to stopper the spot where the regular enlarger lamp holder came in through the base.

When I bough my M600 they though it was missing a piece about where you describe what I found was the filter door was stuck open.
