A little update:

I just used the latest batch of Lupex (2023 production), and it definitely exhibits less contrast than my 2016 Lodima G4, at least 2/3 grade less. In the past, G4 Lodima and G3 Lupex were virtually identical. The Lupex is definitely cooler in color and faster than my old Lodima as well.

Additionally, surprisingly, my Amidol/benzotriazole developer recipe shows different contrasts depending on where I get the raw chemistry. When I’m the UK, Fisher Scientific ingredients comes up lower in contrast, US-based Artcraft gives more contrast. So now, printing 2023 Lupex is TOO soft when I’m in my UK darkroom. If there was only a way to move poisonous Amidol across the ocean, I’d actually have a small range of contrasts available to me.

I just ordered 4x5 and 5x7 Lupex and some film from Fotoimpex. The only way I could complete the purchase was to skip the normal sign in and use a one time order. Shipping to the USA was a bit expensive but reasonable.
