Luna-Pro S Manual?

Just picked up a used Luna-Pro S meter and it seems to be in great working order. I understand how to use it for the most part, but would like a manual. A google search has come up short. Can anyone here help? Thanks!

Thanks Canuck, I found that one too, but was hoping I could track down the S version. They look a bit different and I think the S has more features.

Could be. I have the old Lunasix 3. I can't remember if there were much difference either than esthetics? Change in batteries from mercury to silver? Maybe? Hmm, now you have my curiosity peaked

I have a Gossen Profisix, which is the Canadian/European version of (I think) a Lunapro S. Here is a link to an eBay auction for it:

Not quite Matt, but thanks. The Luna-Pro S has three concentric rings, and the ASA/ISO dial where this has two. The Pro S has an additional, yellow ring above the EV and Zone rings.

From just looking at the pix, looks like the ProS has an additional Zone System ring that older ones don't have and uses the newer SR44 batteries. Hmm, maybe time to look for a newer meter . Other than that, the older Pro manuals should give you a pretty good idea of how the meter operates. Even the Gossen homesite doesn't have a manual for the ProS.

Hi,

This is a long shot, but I have a few Lunasix-F meters and a couple Lunapro-F meters. In doing some research - a couple of years ago, I recall that one was marketed in Europe and one in the USA, although they are nearly identical. The Lunasix F has both ASA and DIN, but the Luna-Pro F has only ASA. Perhaps it is the same with the Luna-Pro S. Does this manual http://www.gossen-photo.de/pdf/ba_lunasix3s_e.pdf on the Gossen site look like your meter? I know it is called a Lunasix 3S, but it looks a lot like the Luna Pro S on the Adorama site Dead Link Removed - except for the extra DIN scale. The manual is only 3 pages in .pdf because it is a supplement to http://www.gossen-photo.de/pdf/ba_lunasix3_e.pdf if I am not mistaken.

I may have a Luna-Pro S around here somewhere. If I find it I'll see if I have the manual.

At the risk of being a bit boring,

The Bogen site has the specs of the Luna-Pro S on their web-site http://www.bogenimaging.us/ If you click on the Gossen logo along the top of the home page it will take you to their current offerings. The Luna-Pro S uses a CdS cell while the Luna-Pro F uses an sbc photodiode. Bogen and Adorama claim that the Luna-Pro S uses a null metering system, but I am skeptical. On the Luna-Pro S I believe you press the rocker switch to either scale and then transfer the reading to the yellow scale. When I was trying to find info on my Lunapro F I could find none on the Gossen website, and finally figured out that the Lunapro (at least in some models) is called the Lunasix in Europe and Canada. By the way the Profisix is a sbc type if I am not mistaken.

Clarence: I think you're right about the Lunasix - it looks exactly like the Luna-Pro S, save for the DIN scale. And the eBay auction is exactly what I'm looking for, only I'd prefer to have the entire manual rather than just the supplement.

But it seems like if I download the standard Luna-Pro manual that Canuck linked to along with this Lunasix manual you've discovered, I should be in good shape. Thanks much!

www.butkus.org is great. I just hate paying for things that are free online. The link http://www.gossen-photo.de/pdf/ba_lunasix3_e.pdf is basically the first 32 pages (about 9 in .pdf) and almost identical to butkus, except I think the butkus download comes from Bogen distributed literature (US model) so should look identical to your meter. The link http://www.gossen-photo.de/pdf/ba_lunasix3s_e.pdf is for pages 33-40 (3 in .pdf) which should fill the gap. I have seen a lot of reprinted manuals for sale that are available by download from manufacturers or enthusiasts for free, although I understand that sometimes paying a small fee is worth the hassle of tracking the more obscure ones down.

It would appear to me that the LunaPro S is a re-issue/re-make of the LunaSix 3... which has quite a rep as one of the most sensitive lightmeters ever built (and, yes, it also uses the cadmium sulfide cell rather than silicon - supposedly superior to the luna pro). It goes down to EV -4 or something. Good for those moonlight shots...!
