I got a little interested in Fomapan 200 and 400 and saw some pics developed using LPN I liked but have noticed it's no longer available. Is there a close alternative to LPN? Maybe something from Ilford?

I prefer to develop Foma films in either PMK Pyro or Pyrocat-HD, spectacular results every time.

I really have no pity of the idiotic American shops that just put "No longer available" when they mean "we don't have it".
Fomadon LQN is still listed on the Foma site: http://foma-cz.cs4.cstech.cz/en/catalogue-fomadon-lqn-detail-283
It is available here: http://shop.silverprint.co.uk/Fomadon-LQN-Film-Developer-Film-Developer-250ml/product/56108/V70002/
Sorry if it isn't in your country.
You should be able to find LQN here even if it isn't listed: http://www.processuk.net/
PS are the main stockists for Foma products in the UK, albeit their website doesn't have all the items, they do have more in stock.

P.S. You could also order Fomadon LQR, a higher contrast developer.

You'd think it it was indeed "no longer available" they'd just say "Discontinued" instead of leaving you guessing if they're just out of stock. I tried B&H and Freestyle Photographic Supplies and both said "No longer available".

A couple problems about the Pyro I've read is the staining issue(floor, counter tops, etc.) and the difficulty in scanning-printing may be a horse of another color but not so with scanning from all I've read.

I shoot at box speed most of the time, but you would have to do a personal speed test to determine your own desired results.

I enquired with the main distributor here in the UK.
It is still available from them as I posted above.
They have no news of discontinuation.

I've been using Fomapan 100 & 200 at half box speed in Pyrocat HD for nearly 10 years now, a wonderful combination with excellent results. One advantage of Pyrocat negatives is they print very easily and they also scan well.

Foma LQN is a Universal PQ type developer, you could in fact use Ilford PQ Universal at 1+19 you'd have to experiment with the time, it would be somewhere around 6mins at 20ºC.

I used to use RO9/one shot for Fomapan 200/400. Great resultes. but lately I have tried Firstcall film developer, which re branded Rollei RHS film developer, and get extremely good results, very fine grain. so fine that I have had difficulty focusing on grain and need to focus on fine detail, also the detail is better as is the tonality of the Fomapan negatives.
