These war period chromes of the US on the Denver Post plog are a wonderful testament to the beauty and longevity of Kodachrome.

I grew up thinking the past was all Black and White. All my family photos from the 30s, 40s and 50s were Black and White.
These Kodachromes are beautiful renditions of the past. And some were 4x5!

I hope we can maintain a record with the same clarity, of the time we are in now.

As great as these are, I find it amusing how many times these links have been posted on APUG. More than a dozen surely...

But such things bear repeating I guess.

Very true, yet I can't help not looking through them again each time. Makes you wonder if future generations will do the same with photos shot today?

Agreed! I actually didn't look at the publication date. My mom emailed me the link the other day, and I always pay attention to what she tells me.
Given the recent NY Times article on the processing of the last roll, it seemed timely. Regardless, it is a wonderful batch of images. As a result of these images, I took a "flight" (google) down main street in Cascade, ID to see if the buildings in image 26 still exist. Don't seem to, but I'd swear I know that bend in the road of image 27 (though now wider).

Is it just me, or aren't these images rather saturated? I mean in comparison to color materials prior to the "Oh migod, that Velvia is SO saturated it's unnatural!" cries of doom when it came out? Now, lots of films are "well" saturated and we accept it as normal and good, generally.

But no one critiques the old Kodachrome as too saturated, only kneeling at the altar of subjective deference to alleged superiority.

PS, I do loves me those old Kodachromes! Sure was a waste of government spending, wasn't it? <snark>
