Lost RB67 darkslide Now what?

So, while hiking, I lost my dark slide. Not the end of the world, but I would like to have one. Anywhere I can get a cheap darkslide for my camera, that interacts with all the interlocks correctly,
 
KEH.com will have one or more for you without breaking the bank. If you call them to order and ask for a discount, they may give you a 5% discount which would beat being kicked in the teeth. Actually it would effectively cut your sales tax.
 
I'm not sure, but it may matter if you specify which back(s) it is for.
RB67 Pro, RB67 Pro-S or RB67 Pro-SD.

Unfortunately, looks like the only one they have is $50! Honestly, way more than I’m willing to pay.

Unfortunately, they are all $50+, and $20 shipping, for OEM at least. And I honestly don’t trust the Chinese ones, plus… 2-3 weeks of shipping, lol.

I managed to find one for $25, not OEM, but it seems like good quality and it ships from the US.
 
So I never thought I would see the day when a darkslide would cost $70. I remember parting out Bronica backs and just saving darkslides I wonder if anyone has 220 backs??
I have RZ67 II, has a place for the slides. Wow

Not gonna lie, it might almost be cheaper to buy a junk back than it would be to get a dark slide by itself!

A small sheet of stainless steel, a scribe and a Dremel Tool with the right cut-off saw blade should suffice as long as you can borrow a real one to make the template.

Yes. I worked in a place that had multiple RB models and the darkslides for the newer backs are more intricate than the old ones. They feature cutouts on the sides that lock the darkslide into the carriage unless you push down the button or lever.
 
If you don't mind it not actuating the dark slide interlock, a dark slide from a Graflex 22, 23, RH12, RH8, or RH10 back seems to fit the slot. Some of those (the knob wind ones) can be had cheaply...

Those are automatically actuated by the Graflok locking slides -- when the film holder is mounted to the Graflok back the slide unlocks automatically. This is present on dark slides original to ProS and ProSD backs, but not on the Pro version (which also didn't have double exposure interlock).
 
And you can make one from a 4x5 dark slide, available cheaply on Ebay. At least I know you can make them for the Graflex and SInger 2x3 etc. backs.
 
I've bought lots of camera related stuff from China without issue.... There are plenty of dark slides for $25 Cdn with cheap shipping...
 
The RB67 darkslide is thin sheet metal, about 0.2mm thick. 4x5 darkslide material is too thick and will not fit.

Some options include:
- buy a darkslide. Check ebay.
- buy a 220 back with slide; often cheaper/same price, and you get a free 220 back that can be used to shoot 35mm with spool adapters or whatever.
- make a slide from sheet stainless steel - you can get some on ebay or elsewhere. You need a way to make a neat cut, perhaps a guillotine cutter. Finish the edges nicely so it doesn't rip up the light trap. If you need the little notch in the long side that prevents removing the slide when the back is off the camera, you can probably cut that with a diagonal cutter or a dremel, etc.

The RB roll holder darkslides are made of much thinner stainless steel not plastic.
 
I just ordered one of those for mine. The one I have is slightly bent. It works but not the greatest. You're welcome to it if the replacement works. I should have it in a couple of days.
 
In my experience, if you have one copy of a version of a dark slide that doesn't fully interact with all the safety interlocks in a camera and all the rest of your dark slides do fully interact with all the safety interlocks in a camera, you will most likely have reason to rely on those safety interlocks much more frequently when that unique dark slide is the one at hand.
It is an RB67 dark slide special example of Murphy's law.
 

Will this replacement handle all the interlocks?
