Three moves in the last three years. Things in storage, things in house with us. What do we need, what do we broom.

I've kept all cameras and lenses with us in house rather than in non climate controlled storage.

All cameras are accounted for including two 4x5, digitals and the grandson's camera.

I'm at a loss as to where my beloved Mamiya RB67 is.

If anyone finds it, please send it home.

Can you furnish serial number, etc., any other aids to identification?

So sorry to hear that. Moves are always dangerous from a loss point of view. When we moved my beloved chain saw went on the truck, never came off. How does that happen? I hope it turns up soon.

I moved many times in my life, including six transatlantic moves; always thought to have lost something essential, loved or expensive; or blamed the wife to have pitched it. Everything turned up eventually when I was not looking for it anymore

I loose things without even moving.
A recent example: I had a nice capable Nikon flash that was gone for 6 months - I thought I looked everywhere and concluded I must have dropped or forgotten it somewhere out in the world, even bought a replacement.
This past Saturday when I pulled out some books from the shelf, I found it hiding behind the books!
I don't have the slightest clue how it ended there.
I wish this was the only example.

Ben Franklin is on record as having written that "Three removes are the equivalent of a house fire."

I feel your pain, though at least my RB67 was acquired after I moved into the house I'm in now (where, with a little luck, I'll stay until I need daily assistance, at which time I'll probably have to move into a refrigerator box, if I can afford one, instead).

Tim,
At 73 this is a common problem for me. I lost a pair of titanium eyeglasses for more than six months. They turned up on a display shelf I have near the ceiling in my camera/computer room. It seems I had taken them off when I was on a ladder inspecting an old Kodak Medalist I had on the shelf. Glasses are bad for me, since I have to take mine off to really see well up close. Thank God I get my replacements from the VA, or I would be broke. I'm still missing a Rollei 35 S from about 15 yrs ago. I've come to the conclusion that I had to have left it on the seat of a booth in McDonald's when I stopped for coffee. The biggest issue is not misplacing something, it's what misplacing something does to your mind. It plays real mind games and occupies a large time portion of it. Did I leave it here, did put it there, did I lend it out, was it in that box marked "junk" that went in the trash? I'm afraid that that is what is going to go on with you for a good long while until you either find it or just come to grips with it being gone for good. Of course, the latter may never happen, which is the case of my lovely little Rollei 35. Yes, 15 yrs. later, I'm still back-tracking through my mind all the places I went that day.
Good luck with finding the RB67 and don't let it chew your mind up too bad. JohnW

Dang...hope you find it soon. As someone else said, stop looking for it, and it'll turn up when you least expect it.

I just moved all my gear from one room over to the next room so I could paint... Now I can't find anything! I hope you recover your RB.

I am really sad to say that I can relate to this.

I feel your agony. I've been on the move, living out of boxes, semi-homeless for the last six years. I'm somewhat settled now but much stuff is still in boxes...I'm not even sure what is lost or what I'll find. It keeps life interesting.

I feel your pain. I have been looking for my Gossen multibeam head for my SBC for 2 months now and just gave up and bought another one. I found it yesterday. It was in the last place I looked. 😀 Now I have 2 to loose. Always have a pair and a spare. I once misplaced a Domke F1X bag full of Nikon lenses and a month later I found it in a file cabinet drawer. I was at the time looking for a way to store the loaded camera bags and I had just bought at auction a bunch of file cabinets legal size for storage units. If my wife had not wanted me to move it from the spare bedroom to the office fro paper filing no telling how long it would have been gone.

Oh, dear...are you referring to Saint Anthony? My wife's many Italian friends advised her years ago to pray to St Anthony, as he gets lost items to turn up. They ALL, however said, "He likes money" I don't know how much lost cats have cost me over the years.

Obligatory confession: I move vast quantities of photo equipment each year, back and forth between the winter house and the summer house. I went looking for my 24 inch RDA in Ilex 5 this year. Couldn't find it anywhere. I keep it, along with three other big lenses, in a special case. Even had the wife look for it, as she maintains I'm blind. No go. Decided it was stolen out of the car while moving. Replaced the lens ($$$).

At her suggestion, I offered Tony a couple hundred bucks if he'd fork over the lenses. Didn't think I had anything to lose. Two days after the replacement lens arrived, the original RDA showed up sitting on a shelf in a closet, in which we had both looked. I hate the guy.

That's hilarious. In Argentina, we also ask San Antonio for help, but no money is offered, you just have to find a prayer card of his and put it upside down. You'll turn it right side up when the item reappears. Got me lost baggage back...so how about you choose that instead of bribing this time? 😆

My things are often found by others since I have trouble finding miss placed items. I am very careful where I put things ... always in the same place. However when I do find a missing item it is always in the last place I looked. So start off going to the last place that you would look. FWIW

St Anthony has been known to hold out for a long time. I don't know how long I (or my wife, waiting for the cat) can wait for a freebee.

On the other hand, when one wants to sell one's house, the local wisdom is to bury a statue of St Joseph, up-side down, in the yard, only digging him up (and righting him) after the house sells.

Check the pockets of your sport coat. That’s where I found my Minox C after it went missing for a few years.

Wait till you get to my age, I've lived in my current house for 34 years, and I lose things that haven't been out of my bedroom

Maybe Banner's sport coat (the one he wears when he's green) could hold an RB67, but I'm pretty sure I've never owned one that could.

When I had an RB67 my "small kit" carry bag was a re-purposed diaper bag. It was great for its (re)purpose, having a strong, wide shoulder strap, lots of pockets, and it made camera theft very unlikely!
Just a somewhat related suggestion - it may have been packed away in something that you don't associate in any way with photography. It would, of course, have to be a relatively large and heavy container.

I seem to be missing a few years...don't bother returning if found...

It is the negatives that disappear that is bothersome...but it is amazing what does show up during the search(es).
