I read this thread a few days ago, but had nothing to offer, as I have never misplaced a camera.
However, today I wanted to carry along my recently repaired Minolta 16mm camera....and I can't find it  I suspect it is in a coat pocket somewhere...

It’s contagious. I need to get vaccinated before I lose a camera, or meter, or lens. Everyone should be concerned!

It's FOUND!!!

After the flood in May, we moved everything out of the former owner's office (was to be my darkroom) into the room off the back of the garage.

While getting the snowblower out and ready to mount to the tractor, i noted a plastic storage container. Wondering, I had to look... There it was.

No bounty to St. Anthony! But, it WAS the last place that I looked.

I'd love to meet the man that wears a sport jacket capable of hiding an RB67 in it's pocket.

Maybe in my Carhartt winter parka pocket, but not a sport jacket .

My things are often found by others since I have trouble finding miss placed items. I am very careful where I put things ... always in the same place. However when I do find a missing item it is always in the last place I looked. So start off going to the last place that you would look. FWIW

Just to keep things rolling...I put aside a Minox BL that needed a part replaced for which I intended to use for that part a different BL with nonfunctional meter. Found second BL but now can’t find BL that I put aside.

Glad to hear it. I usually keep looking for something for a few days after I find it, just in case.

It's a little scary that your lost camera prayers were answered here.

Maybe the moderators could add a new Holy Moly Lost and Found Forum.

At 73 this is a common problem for me. I lost a pair of titanium eyeglasses for more than six months.

I ended up putting those cord thingies on my glasses. Now I don't set them down very often, I just let them hang around my neck. So far so good. Glasses are tough because they're clear, and they're hard to see w/o them when you set them down.

Sure glad you found it! I'm still trying to get my head around how anyone can lose an RB67... 😉

Well, a decade or so ago, the US Military apparently lost a minimum of four pallets of US currency. Total of a billion and a half dollars in cash. That's a little bit bigger than an RB67, even with a 360 mm lens, metered prism, and left hand grip attached...

I have a problem finding things when they are misplaced, so I am very consistent about putting things back in exactly they place they should be. Once misplaced, I have big problems finding them again, so I have learned to look in the last place that I would look.

Two moves, things in storage, then a flood. Things got moved around after the flood. Thank the Lord that I had all of my cameras in water proof totes. The JOBO floated.

Last May, we got 4-1/2 inches of rain in an hour and a half. Water was 21 inches deep on the side of the house, 6-1/2 inches deep in the shop and garage. Lost all of my negatives. Thankfully; enlargers and all other darkroom items survived, as did all other family heirlooms.

Living in a tri level, the water was 3-1/2 inches deep in the lowest level.

Well, the unused lower level bedroom that backs up to the laundry room has become the new home of my darkroom. We had to remove the lower portions of drywall due to wetness/mold. This exposed the plumbing and drain for the laundry room.

The previous area designated as my darkroom (former owner's office w/o plumbing, with three windows and two doors to make light tight was ditched (with approval from SWMO) in favor of the new former bedroom. While it has to share space with home canned goods, it's going to work well for my darkroom. Only one window and one door to make light tight with plumbing to boot. My very first plumbed darkroom.

Rest assured that I'll be combing the archives here along with asking a ton of questions in the next few months.

I just turned 66 on Jan 1. If I don't put my glasses in the same place each and every time that I take them off, I can't see to find them.

Motel rooms are a bitch (I'm a field service technician by trade, so rented rooms are common).

Years ago a friend was seated on plane next to Mario Puzo, who had just had a bestseller with "The Godfather" that he written. Prior to that he was broke. She asked him if he had indulged in any luxuries since his newfound success. The answer: He had two dozen pairs of prescription glasses made, as he was always misplacing them, and kept spares at friends houses, and anywhere he might be. That's luxury....

I predict that you will find the camera in the last place that you will look.

I think that your prediction is a certainty, based on personal research and experience with a wide variety of "lost" articles.

It is a very sickening feeling to "lose" a camera. My absolute favorite camera (Mamiya 6) disappeared from my darkroom several years back, thought I was going to throw up when I discovered its absence. I searched everywhere thinking I may have placed it elsewhere and forgot, I always sat it on a particular spot on the shelf after unloading, I reached for it to load before leaving the house and got that sinking feeling. One day I might replace it.

Three moves in the last three years. Things in storage, things in house with us. What do we need, what do we broom.

I've kept all cameras and lenses with us in house rather than in non climate controlled storage.

All cameras are accounted for including two 4x5, digitals and the grandson's camera.

I'm at a loss as to where my beloved Mamiya RB67 is.

If anyone finds it, please send it home.

The good part is, it's too big to get lost!

I once found a Mamiya 6 abandon and unattended on a gift shop counter at the Getty Center Museum in Brentwood. Seems like Mamiya owners share a common trait. In this case the owner eventually returned and claimed his gear.

I have yet to find my misplaced BL. Has to be someplace in the house. Only sure way to have it turn up would be to buy a replacement. Then missing camera would be found as soon as replacement arrived in mail.
Happy to know that OP found his camera!

I lost my Nikon F on a NYC subway. But I still have my 35 years old RB67. Another problem I have is my remote control fob for my car sometimes opens the trunk where I might have my camera case. Nothing scarier returning to the car to see the trunk open 1/3 of the way and praying nothing's missing. It's happened a number of times. So far so good.

I recently misplaced the 28mm lens for the Nokonos V some place in my home. I have looked everywhere I can think of. Now I have to look in places that I cannot think of. It will be in the last place that I would look. <<sigh>>

This is not fun nor is it funny! 😢

You can easily make sure it isn't in the last place you look. Just keep looking after you find it.
