Thank you so much! I'm hoping a few of the better genes came down the family tree. Several of their descendants (as well as her brother and some in that line) have done some photography.

If anyone here can figure out where he stood to take the Paris photo, I'd to see how different it is today. And what the other town might be. I have a shot of GGM by the statue in Chamonix, so I know they were there. Also a few of the Matterhorn.

Pretty close to the cross walk on the north east corner of 10 Place de la Concorde.
Wow, the power of APUG + google street view. It does look pretty close and it's just cool to see from close to where my great grandparents stood over 100 years ago - wicked cool. Thank you!!

It's too bad you don't have the camera(s) they used. You could travel where they did and re-take the same images in the same places with the very same camera they used. That's a new twist on an old theme.
