A big hello to everyone.. I'm from Brisbane, Australia and have been shooting film for quite a few years. Currently using and loving Practika, Mamiya, Smena and Zenit. A friend of mine and I have decided to learn how to develop our own films and have picked up some equipment fairly cheaply and we have the space and resources to build whatever we need to for the dark room. Problem is that neither of us know what we are doing and would love some direction on the absolute basics. Can any of you lovely people point us in the right direction as far as threads, groups or sections of the forum that may help us best. I have had a little look around and will continue to do so... I look forward to sharing our journey of learning with you all..

Hello and a warm welcome to APUG. You might try a local community college or go to a local library.

Welcome to APUG. All you need is a space you can make light-proof. Ideally you would have running water, but even that is not a necessity.

Tell us what space/s you have in mind and we can give advice from there.

And make sure you have fun.

Welcome!
Doing your own development and printing is easier than you think, and all questions can be answered here.
Good luck!

Welcome to Apug!

There once seems to have been a dress code for Praktica-users...:

There once was also a life without internet and thus there is also good literature around.

Quite popular internatinally and thus more easy to access:
"The Darkroom Book" by Jack Schofield
"The Darkroom Handbook" by Michael Langford
