Looking to get into analog and need advice.

A different idea. I would get a 1960s rangefinder, like a Yashica GSN, and discover how radically different film pictures can look right out of the camera. It's an eye opener.

I'm not sure how many places even develop 110 film anymore and does anyone actually still produce the film? Anyone know about either?

Holga's are great fun on the other hand = I have two. I don't use them all the time but enjoy using them, and love the results I've had from them, with both colour print and B/W film, the latter of which I home process and print = all part of the fun!

i think the reasons to use film are...
1. i want to do my own darkroom work, (all, or part of it). and,
2. I want to produce a print, or something on paper, or,
3. it's some part of an alternative process that film would enable or enhance.

to shoot film and digitze at some point, or scan the result to view on a screen misses the point of using film, in my opinion, adding useless effort - then all the issues folks have mentioned become important.

yes, many will disagree, believing in scanning and photoshop... just not how i see it!

I have a wonderful Canonet 28 rangefinder in the for sale section of the classifieds. For $15.00 plus postage you can enter the world of analog photography with little cash outlay. Consider shooting B & W and have the processing done by Ilford, until you decide to process yourself. Ilford can do high quality scans and you can make prints digitally if you wish. The best of both worlds as you learn analog photography and make the transition.
