Hi all

Have recently acquired a Calumet C1 8x10 camera - the big green beast - and am looking for a lens strictly for my portraiture work.

My work ranges from close-up, tight headshots to head and mid-torso portraits.

This is primarily for my wetplate work. The camera has over 800mm of bellows extension.

My favourite lens on 4x5 is my Mulitcoated Schneider Symmar 240mm f5.6. I want something that compares to it in sharpness and perspective. Not looking to spend any more than £500.

I’ve been looking at something like the Rodenstock Apo Ronar 480mm f9 or Nikkor Apo 610mm f9 lenses, but don’t know how well they’d work with 8x10...

Any insights, advice or recommendations is very much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Both of those should cover 8x10 easily, finding them in shutter is a challenge though.

However, seeing you are doing WP i guess a shutter isn't strictly needed.
