Hi:

I am looking to buy one of these such as the ones at the links below. I want to view film grain and capture a picture of it and save it on my computer. This is for studying assorted film\dev combinations and looking at the grain.

I really don't know what kind of magnification I'll need and how to know if the CCD camera will be able to show the grain clear and sharp.

I'm sure someone in APUG land has done this and I'd appreciate any advice on what to buy so that I get it right the first time.

Thanks.

Here are some of them on eBay:

This one looks like a toy:

This one may be more suitable:

The second will work if you get hold of some flat field objectives.

Olympus Mic-D Digital Microscope is a brilliant thing that is 'sold out' but might be found easily.

If the instrument is aligned, and the objectives are meant for this work, you'll get great results with a D*G*T*L viewer.

But why ? Never mind, that isn't the question.

You might GOOGLE around for a basic microscope introduction, then come back for specific questions.... look for ZEISS , Leitz, Nikon, Olympus...
