Use the tools available to you to create something that truly reflects you and your vision!
You are asking a limited scope audience who commonly believe in manual processes over technological, regardless if one is better than another. some of the "hooeey" I have read here would lead me to believe they would prefer not to view images on a computer at all. They will not use the computer or internet for what it was designed to do, or is evolving to become, yet blather their personal beliefs all over internet.
Do you ask these people what you should take a picture of? What f-stop? what film? what developer? what paper? If so, please stop. It is not important that they like your work, your website, or that your work looks like someone elses. We all get caught in this trap and have to recognize when it blocks our creativity and self expression. I'm guilty too.
Suggested Reading "Letting go of the camera" by Brooks Jensen. Much of it applies to personal web site design too.
