I've been interested in attaching an anamorphic lens to one of my 35mm cameras for a while now. I've seen this done with digital and I would like to try it myself. The problem I keep running into is lack of lenses and the ones I see on Ebay are far out of my budget.

Any suggestions where I can find a lens? I've read that 16mm lenses are around but I've never seen one.

I'm planning on attaching the lens with one of those anamorphic kits I've seen. I requires dual focusing. I'm not concerned with getting a high precision lens, I just want the stretch and I'll squeeze it in post.

Actually it's squeeze at the camera and stretch in post. I have a set of Lomos for sale currently 35/50/75mm, $27k. But if you are looking for something cheap to play with 35mm cine projector anamorphic accessory lenses are not expensive. They were mounted in front of the normal lens on projectors and had a fairly large entry pupil which you need. 16mm anamorphic projector lenses are way too small (I have both 35mm and 16mm). From what I have seen those 35mm projector lenses vignette under about 75mm on a still camera. Enjoy experimenting!

Thanks for straightening me out on the vernacular.

What price point is fair for one of these projector lenses? Is the mighty Ebay the place to go or is there somewhere better to root around for one?

EBay. I think they go for perhaps $100 to 200 USD. They were often sold in pairs (when theater projectors has changeovers). I have seen some crazy BIN prices too.

Take a look at this Schneider: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schneider-K...604832?hash=item568d2b2e60:g:CecAAOSwZVlXn-ha

Be sure to check out Lomo anamorphic projection lenses, there are a few last time I looked. A lot of people don't know what they are and they go cheap. They were excellent Russian optics just like the western versions.

Thanks! I'm going to have to try to snag one of these. The hunt is on!
